Types of Voice
Rehabilitation
Basically, there are three voice rehabilitation techniques after total laryngectomy: electromechanical speech, esophageal speech and tracheo-esophageal (shunt) speech. Each of these techniques has its strengths and weaknesses. The external air shunting devices with or without a reed are not being discussed since they do not play a role in current voice rehabilitation these days. |
